Installation Instructions
Guy Line Kit
for 15-ft (4.5m) and smaller Parabolic Antennas
Bulletin 237105A

Revision B

Description

The use of this kit provides one of three points of support
and alignment of the antenna feed. The kit can be used
where guy lines are being replaced in or added to installed
antennas. The rope stop ring, which will be installed
behind the reflector, has been factory-assembled. After
making suitable measurements, each guy line can be
pre-assembled for installation.

Notice

The installation, maintenance, or removal of antenna
systems require qualified, experienced personnel. Andrew
installation instructions have been written for such
personnel. Antenna systems should be inspected once a year by
qualified personnel to verify proper installation,
maintenance, and condition of equipment.

Andrew disclaims any liability or responsibility for the
results of improper or unsafe installation practices.

1

Determine if a guy hook or a rope stop ring is to be
installed at the feed end. Measure the distance
between the front surface of the reflector and the contact
surface of the guy hook or rope clamp on the feed anchor
ring. Add 5-5/16" (135 mm) to this distance for an overall
dimension to reach the end of the threaded stud. This
overall dimension should be accurate with plus or minus
1/4" (6 mm).

If a guy line is being replaced that has the same type of
line guide, measure and use the equivalent overall
dimension of the guy line within plus or minus 1/4" (6 mm).
However, if the existing guy line has a line guide that has
a hemisphere without a protruding tube, add 15/16" (24
mm) to the measurement.

2

Screw the two nuts onto the threaded stud so that the
nuts are locked together and spaced 9/16" (14 mm)
from the threaded stud end. Slide the assembly, washer,
spring, and line guide onto the guy rope.

3

Pass the rope through a hole in the rope clamp, the
rope stop ring or hook required at the feed end, and
back into the other hole in the rope clamp.

For stop ring installations: Pull the free end of the rope
to tighten the stop ring against the clamp while maintaining
the required guy line dimension.
