Section 3.5.7 Installation of Wall Feed-through

After all the initial cable sections in an antenna feed-through group are installed, the transmitter building wall feed-through is installed as follows:

NOTE: During installation, refer to the appropriate Microflect Drawing (#C-76120, #C-76121, or #C-76122) for component identification and assembly illustration.

1. Move the previously installed boots, as necessary, at least 3 inches (78 mm) beyond the building exterior. Use soapy water as a lubricant. Clean and smooth the wall surfaces mounting against the feed-through.

NOTE: Check that the SCL950 cable runs are level along the centerline of the opening and are on 17-inch (432 mm) centers.

2. Inside the building, assemble the two angle braces and two angle frame assemblies to form the basic backframe of the feed-through opening.

3. Apply two strips of "WILLSEAL", side by side, around the entire feed-through exterior to the building. Locate the strips to allow cover plates to seal against them.

4. Then quickly install the two end cover plates and small angle braces using threaded rods and hardware as shown. The installation of these plates helps hold the WILLSEAL in place.

5. Mark a chalk line between the top and bottom edges of the two end cover plates to help keep the plates level during installation. These lines will assist alignment of the rest of the plates.
6. Starting at either end, apply a strip of weather sealing tape to the edge of the end cover plate. Then assemble the four threaded rods and one each of the two sizes of angle braces.

7. Install the full cover plate, and the two gaskets and splice plates. Move the cover plates close together and lock in place by tightening one bolt in each side of the joint. Be sure that sealing tape completely fills the gap between the two plates. Leave other hardware hand tight to permit alignment of the cover plates, later, as necessary.

NOTE: It is important to keep the center of the cover plate in line with each cable. Check the centers and keep them at 17 inches (432 mm) so that tolerances will not accumulate. Also, use the chalk marks to help keep the plates level and aligned.

8. Use a lubricant of soapy water, as necessary, and slide the boot flange toward the cover plate while aligning the holes.

9. Assemble the arc-shaped plates, locking the gasket against the cover plate using the hardware as shown.

10. Uniformly tighten the installed hardware at this joint to a torque of 20 to 25 ft-lbs, including the locking nuts on the inside surfaces.

11. Install the hose clamps and tighten.

12. Continuing sequentially, install all remaining plates, boots, and hardware in a similar fashion.
