20. Place the inner conductor positioning tool handle (#221685) over the rods. Use the driver-ring torque wrench (#220047) to tighten the female conductor. Tighten to a torque between 250 and 275 ft-lb.

21. This is a high-contact pressure connection. After tightening, brush completely around the connection to remove any small filings that occur from the wiping action of the contacting surfaces.
Use a soft horsehair brush or equivalent.

22. Remove the rods, handle, and the two sections of the inner conductor holding tool.

23. Place a straightedge diagonally across the flange. Rotate the strain insulator to position the front edge of the female connector flush to the straightedge.

24. At low level, remove the U-bolt from the hanger of the previous section that is closest to the attached transmitter-end repair section. At high or transition levels, install a lifting assembly to each support and attach ropes and pulleys to the cable prior to the removal of the U-bolt. Support the cable vertically in 10-ft (3 m) intervals and position the supports to hold the cable as shown in the illustration.

NOTE: Save the U-bolt and hanger hardware.

5.5.4 Mate Repair Sections

The two segments of the repair section are mated at the EIA type interface as follows:

1. Prior to mating, align the flanges and connectors as shown in the illustration.
