The Bus-Tech Mainframe Appliance for Networking provides direct, high-speed connection between your Local Area Network and your System/390 mainframe. The Mainframe Appliance for Networking is the smallest Mainframe TCP/IP Interconnect Controller available on the market today. This powerful controller occupies a single U slot in a standard 19" rack, which can save valuable space in your data center.

The Mainframe Appliance for Networking provides an ESCON connector which plugs into a System/390 ESCON port or into an ESCON Director port and offers full ESCON Multi-Image Facility (EMIF) support. There are two RJ-45 connectors for plugging into your 10/100 /1000 Mbits/sec. Ethernet network.

The Mainframe Appliance for Networking is the next-generation of Bus-Tech's channel-attached TCP/IP controllers, based on Red Hat Linux. A console-less controller, the Mainframe Appliance for Networking uses Linux's Virtual Network Controller for remote administration capabilities to provide easy administration and configuration over the Ethernet network.

The Mainframe Appliance for Networking exchanges TCP/IP traffic between mainframe resident TCP/IP applications and the network. TCP/IP-based servers and clients running TCP/IP applications such as Telnet, TN3270, and FTP gain immediate access to OS/390 TCP/IP services. System/390-based Web servers can use the Mainframe Appliance for Networking to deliver HTML and Java applications to browser-based clients anywhere on the Intranet/Internet.

The Mainframe Appliance for Networking fully supports EMIF. When installed in a system running in Logical Partition (LPAR) mode, each channel path may be defined as a shared path. TCP/IP stacks running in different LPARs may transparently share an ESCON port.

The Mainframe Appliance for Networking fully supports ESCON Directors. This feature allows multiple mainframes to share the resources of the Mainframe Appliance for Networking.

Benefits

Customer Testimonials:

"The Mainframe Appliance for Networking operates as a true appliance, requiring little to no set up and support by the customer." - Marc Schare, President, Connectivity Systems, the leading supplier of TCP/IP VSE mainframe software

"We recently purchased a Mainframe Appliance for Networking and found the unit a "piece of cake" to install. It was extremely easy and the documentation was very clear and easy to understand. The best features of the unit, for our perspective, was its ability to support four independent VSE machines from a single unit and the ease or remote administration." - John Sattar, Programmer/Analyst at NERAC
