Products:
Network-In-A-
BoxTM
(NIB)
interWAVE's Network-In-A-BoxTM (NIB) product offers the
ability to support a complete GSM network by integrating
a Mobile Switching Center (MSC), a Base Station
Controller (BSC) and a Base Transceiver Station (BTS) in
a single enclosure about the size of a PC tower. The NIB
is designed for rapid deployment, with compactness
suitable for many special applications, and the cost
effectiveness for very small capacity networks or
network extensions. The NIB can support either a
completely stand-alone GSM network and integrate with
existing wireline and wireless network infrastructures
or can be deployed as part of an extension of an
existing Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN). Its usage
has ranged from remote small coverage areas often with
satellite backhaul to enterprise private GSM networks
integrating with private PBXs.
The NIB offers other benefits such as a
cost-efficient GSM starter network because it allows
wireless service providers to match their infrastructure
expenditures to the growth of subscriber usage. It is
easy to scale from a single NIB to a network requiring
multiple MSC, BSC, and BTS.
Download the Data Sheet for the NIB.
WAVEXchange (WXC)
The WAVEXchange (WXC) is a standard GSM
Mobile Switching Center (MSC) with a built-in Visitor
Location Register (VLR)/ Home Location Register (HLR).
interWAVE's WXC is extremely easy to operate and
maintain and it performs standard MSC functions such as
call processing, supplementary services, and mobility
functions/interfaces. It is ideally suited for the lower
density/capacity GSM networks where local switching can
greatly reduce remote transmission costs.
As part of a GSM network, the WXC can be
seamlessly integrated with an existing Public Switched
Telephone Network (PSTN) network, another Public Land
Mobile Network (PLMN) network, or simply as an extension
of an existing PLMN network. It is the only GSM switch
on the market today that can act either as a Base
Station Controller (BSC) extension of a central MSC or
as a local MSC on a call-by-call basis: this is achieved
using interWAVE's patented intelligent traffic
management feaure, PALIM™. interWAVE’s WAVEXchange
includes a CAMEL based SSP function designed to
interface with an IN prepaid service. This enables
operators to increase their service offering and
competitive differentiation.
The WXC adopts the standard GSM interfaces
and may be configured with up to 16 E1 or T1 ports that
support up to 8,000 subscribers, depending network
requirements.

WAVEXchange II (WXC II)
interWAVE’s WAVEXchange II (WXC II) is a
large GSM mobile switch with capacity of up to 256 E1
ports and 100,000 subscribers. The WXC II provides
operators with a wide range of features to grow their
businesses and includes basic telephony services and
value added services. Its compact size minimizes both
the physical space needs and installation costs. The
WAVEXchange II Mobile Switching Center (MSC) is a
complete GSM solution and includes a built-in Visitor
Location Register (VLR) and an optional Home Location
Register (HLR). It offers short message services, voice
announcement server and the options to include built-in
echo cancellers, a prepaid server and web based
Operations and Management Center (OMC). The
user-friendly GUI simplifies the operation and
maintenance process. As part of a GSM network, the WXC
II can be seamlessly integrated with an existing Public
Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), another Public Land
Mobile Network (PLMN), or simply as an extension of an
existing PLMN.

up to 200,000 subscribers, the WAVE.HLR/AuC can be a
part of interWAVE’s WAVEXchange II or interwork with
third party MSCs. The HLR is compliant with GSM Phase 2+
standard. The Authentication Center of the WAVEHLR/AuC
supports the GSM standard authentication algorithms or
user defined algorithms. The WAVE.HLR/AuC is highly
reliable and secured. With multiple units, GSM operators
can easily grow their networks from 10,000 subscribers
to 200,000 subscribers.

WAVEXpress BTS
The WAVEXpress BTS is a Base Transceiver
Station, or base station, which can accommodate up to
three TRX radios. WAVEXpress BTS are available in all
three GSM frequency bands: 900 MHZ and 1800 MHZ for
Europe and Asia, and 1900 MHZ for the Americas. The
WAVEXpress BTS connects the mobile user to the network
with no need for additional components.
An optional TurboWAVE module enables higher
power that offers broader geographic coverage with over
20 kilometers of range. In covering a longer range, the
TurboWAVE module offers the service provider benefits
from increased coverage, greater reduction in
transmission costs and lower cell site costs per
subscriber.

UltraWave BTS 6
The UltraWAVE BTS 6 is interWAVE’s high
capacity, macro Base Transceiver Station (BTS) which
accommodates 6 TRX radios and is ideal for providing
coverage in both urban and rural areas. Its industry
leading power output (50W) increases the BTS coverage
and provides sufficient capacity for urban populations.
interWAVE’s UltraWAVE BTS 6 offers band operation in
both 850 MHz and 900 MHz and supports frequency hopping,
sectorization, and GPRS.
Designed for easy expansion, interWAVE’s
UltraWAVE BTS 6 is field upgradeable making capacity
growth safe and easy. Further, field replaceable modules
are hot swappable which eliminates the need to shut down
or recalibrate the system to restore normal operations.
This unique approach allows an operator to employ an
incremental, build-as-you-grow approach – as subscriber
demand increases, the initial deployment can easily
expand into a higher capacity system that is capable of
supporting more subscribers.
UltraWAVE BTS 6 also simplifies maintenance
and lowers the associated costs by featuring remote
monitoring, external alarms, overtemp protection,
redundant power supply, field replaceable modules and
front access.

802.WAVE
interWAVE's 802.WAVE is an innovative
solution that combines WLAN access technology (802.11)
with GSM/GPRS cellular to provide "anytime, anywhere"
high-speed Internet and Intranet access. When configured
to integrate with the GSM/GPRS cellular networks it
provides the options for GSM SIM based authentication,
roaming, and integrated billing. In addition to SIM
based authentication, 802.WAVE supports a wide range of
access methods including username and password access
using EAP-MSCHPV2, EAP-MD5, or portal based radius
authentication. It also supports prepaid options
offering providers (cellular, wireline, or WISP
operators) maximum flexibility. 802.WAVE solution set
consists of Access Points (AP), Access Controllers (AC),
Authentication Server (AS), Network Manage System (NMS),
and Client Softward.
A key element of 802.WAVE is interWAVE's
802.AS (Authentication Server), which provides the
gateway between the WLAN access network and the GSM core
network elements. It combines fully functional GSM/GPRS
cellular capabilities and RADIUS Authentication,
Authorization and Accounting (AAA) services and
functionalities into one system while having the ability
to support wireline/WISP operators for their WLAN
networks. This gives operators an extremely flexible and
cost effective solution that bridges WLAN with either
GSM/GPRS or wireless/WISP infrastructure, allowing these
operators to serve users with WLAN enabled PC, PDA, or
other devices.
