6.0 Feed Horn Assembly Adjustment

Note: The focal distance between the feed window and the vertex of reflector must be 60.06 inches ± .060.

6.1 Refer to Figure 6.1. Using tape measure, check focal distance of feed window to vertex of reflector.

6.2 Refer to 6.2. Remove enclosure wall and red plug from enclosure adjustment access hole. If adjustment is necessary, use adjustment knob to rotate feed assembly to ensure one pair of set screws on feed collar and polarization drive unit gear box align with adjustment access hole. Note: Aligning one pair of set screws with adjustment access hole will also align remaining set screw pairs with cover plate opening and enclosure door opening. Important: Adjustment of feed collar and gear hub must not exceed 3/8 in. Feed assembly must not be rotated such that either actuator screw passes between limit switch rollers. Ensure all set screws are retightened evenly after adjustment is complete.

Decreasing Focal Distance
6.3 Using supplied hex wrench (part of polarization hardware kit), loosen set screws on feed collar. Slide collar back the distance needed to adjust the focal distance to the required 60 inches and securely tighten. Loosen set screws on gear hub and move feed horn assembly toward reflector until gear hub contacts collar. Evenly tighten gear hub set screws.
