Description

Instructions given in this bulletin apply to a 12-ft (3.7 m),
high-performance, shielded antenna. Antenna maintenance
instructions are also included. Feed installation
instructions are packed with the feed.

The antenna consists of a parbolic reflector, feed, four-
section shield, planar radome, and an offset tower
mount. Four men and a crane truck are required for the
antenna installation.

The mount attaches to the antenna at three points and is
designed to attach the antenna to an outriggered 4-1/2"
(114-mm) diameter pipe. The bottom mounting point is
supported by an elevation bolt that provides elevation
adjusment of plus or minus 5°. An azimuth strut
attaches to one side mounting point of the mount and a
tower member. This strut provides both stability and
azimuth adjustment of plus or minus 5°. A fixed strut
attaches to one side of the reflector rim and a tower member
for extra stability.


Notice
The installation, maintenance, or removal of antenna
systems required qualified, experienced personnel. Andrew
installation instructions have been written for such
personnel. Antenna systems should be inspected once a
year by qualified personnel to verify proper installation,
maintenance, and condition of equipment.

Before Installation

1. Uncrate Antenna
The crate should be delivered in a vertical position on
the crate skid. Remove the items that are accessible
such as the feed, shield sections, radome, mount, struts,
and hardware kits.

Hoist the crate off the skid and lay it down on level
ground so that the reflector is facing downward. Remove
the rear of the crate, exposing the rear of the reflector,
and then the four sides.

2. Attach Strut Mounting Brackets
The reflector requires attachment of a strut mounting
bracket on each side of the rim. (The top of the reflector
is identified by red tape on the rim.) Align each bracket
with the holes in the reflector rim. Tightly attach the
bracket to the reflector with 12 bolts, flat washers, lock
washers, and nuts. Insert the bolts from the inside of the
reflector rim as shown in Figure 1.
