8 Insert a screwdriver between the shield flange and
the reflector on both sides of a shim. Pry up the
shield slightly and pull out the shim. Tuck the protruding
part of the gasket into place with the shim before lowering
the shield and removing the screwdrivers.

9 Tighten the shield flange bolts finger-tight. Jostle
the shield to be sure it is settled. Tighten all the
flange bolts a little. Then, repeat the process. Finally,
tighten the bolts with a torque wrench to 110 lbt·in (19
N·m).

10 Tighten all remaining bolts finger-tight. Next,
tighten the joint bracket bolts to 195 lbt·in (39
N·m) with a torque wrench. Finally, tighten the shield
overlap bolts to 63 lbt·in (8 N·m).

11 Apply a continuous void-free bead of sealant
(supplied) along the shield overlap edges to
prevent moisture entry.

12 Check the plastic fasteners that hold the RF
absorber in place. Replace fasteners that have
snapped off during assembly with the spare fasteners
provided.

13 Install the air scoop supplied, metal or plastic, at
the shield opening with six bolts, lock washers,
and flat washers (plastic scoop only). Make sure that the
air scoop is positioned as shown here.

Note: Do this step after the mount, feed, and radome
installations, and shortly before hosting the antenna.
This will reduce the possibility of damage to the air
scoop.
